Reflection #1
In the beginning of our project, we originally had the history of diseases as our topic. We decided to change our topic since it was too broad so we focused on one major diseases that had a huge affect on our society back then and now. We researched on how smallpox was important on our history. We all know the story of smallpox and how the whole world was infected by the smallpox disease and how a miracle occurred when a cure for smallpox was created. Though the eradication of smallpox is something we all know by now, we don’t see how tough it was to cure the entire world when many people around the world were dying from this devastating disease. An article I found is about the confirmation of the eradication of smallpox which relates to my topic since in the article it says how many countries were affected with the diseases which I said before, it was impressive for us to send the vaccination of smallpox to all the countries. My collaboration with my group has its ups and downs. Whats working out is that we mostly have and share our great ideas. Though, we have trouble keeping in contact, working on our project, and doing our part. Reflection #2 I found out that my topic did change. It changed from being about the history of diseases to how vaccines impact society. My group decided to make a survey since it collects ideas different kinds of people already know. It can help combine the ideas of what experienced experts at a certain age knows with what a normal person knows to create the main idea of what all of the people think when doing the survey. We found coming up with ideas and combining them to create a certain one easy but we struggled with trying to connect these ideas to our universal theme and generalizations. When we came up for the questions for the survey we needed to somehow use our universal theme which was Conflict to connect to its generalizations. Somethings we need to do is to try and show how our topic about vaccines can be relevant or important today and somehow still include our universal theme and generalizations. We need to express our universal theme and generalizations using basic ideas and ideas or trends relating to our topic. Overall the collaboration has been going pretty well, me and Bryan managed to get caught up since we were too behind but something that wasn’t working well was our collaboration with Christian Sandoval. We try to get him to help but we can’t successfully try and make him do something for our presentation. Although he isn’t fully guilty since me and Bryan were ignoring him sometimes and not giving him certain instructions but at the same time he could’ve asked us to guide him through the process.
