"I Think Therefore I Am"

This quote has many meanings to me which I think Rene Descartes both has a point and doesn't. First I think Rene Descartes has a point since it states that if you think that you are a person that can accomplish anything or having a bright future or and then thinking to yourself that you are that person. Although Rene Descartes also doesn't have a point. For example, if you think you are a person that hates someone and likes to see them dead then you think that you are going to do so. So basically, its a motivation to do something good or bad. I also think that if you think, then that is just your thoughts. Therefore I think Rene Descartes' quote has different meanings by the way you look at it and it can either make his quote partially good and bad. 12/12/16 According to Rene Descartes, the phrase originated from the thought of existence. Rene Descartes then suggested that since he was thinking he does exist.That's what the phrase meant when it said "I think" and "Therefore I Am" came from the fact of existing. Rene Descartes and Jean Paul Sartre : Existentialism 12/20/16 Rene Descartes suggested that we exist because we think, Jean Paul on the other hand suggested that we exist when we are conscious "in it-self". We can relate this since when we are conscious we exist but inside our thoughts like Rene Descartes claimed that if we can think we can exist. |

I, too, am American
I am the least respected brother,
People wouldn't treat me the same as they do with other white people,
But I continue to smile,
eat healthy,
and continue my life,
Because tomorrow,
I'll be treated the same
because nobody would dare
treat or respect me less than any other white American,
and later,
they'll see our similarities
and regret treating me differently
because I, too, am American.
